TESA Open Knowledge is published under CC BY-NC 4.0: anyone may learn from it, share it and adapt it for non-commercial purposes. Educational institutions may teach with it, including in their regular courses that charge tuition, under the additional permissions. Other commercial use needs an agreement with TESA first, and in every case you must credit the Thai Embedded Systems Association (TESA), สมาคมสมองกลฝังตัวไทย. Code (Apache-2.0 / MIT) and the templates in resources/ folders (CC BY 4.0) may be used for any purpose, commercial too, as long as the credit stays.

The required wording

CC BY-NC 4.0 §3(a)(1)(A)(i) lets the licensor request a reasonable manner of attribution. This is the manner TESA requests. Copy it and replace «…» with the title of the lesson or course you use.

It carries all four TASL parts: Title (“«title»” from TESA Open Knowledge), Author (Thai Embedded Systems Association (TESA)), Source (the repository URL, or a direct link to the lesson) and Licence (CC BY-NC 4.0, linked to https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/ wherever a link is possible).

• Changed it? Add “(adapted)”. CC BY-NC 4.0 §3(a)(1)(B) requires you to indicate modifications. Append “(adapted)” (Thai: “(ดัดแปลง)”) and, where you can, say briefly what changed.
• Keep upstream credits. Where TESA itself adapted material, keep the upstream credit as well: the AIC credit for courses/aiot-micropython/, the credit of Asst. Prof. Dr. Santi Nuratch (KMUTT) for courses/firmware-sdk-edge-ai/, courses/digital-twin/ and courses/product-design/, and Meysam Parvizi’s for skills/. Each course README ends with the full block. The upstream works stay available under their own licences at their source (AIoT in Action at AIC is CC BY 4.0); the versions TESA reworked in this repository are CC BY-NC 4.0.
• Third-party images keep their own licence; credit them as listed in the course credits.yaml.

Additional permissions from TESA

Beyond the rights CC BY-NC 4.0 grants, the Thai Embedded Systems Association (TESA), as licensor, grants the following. Each still requires the credit above.

1. Educational institutions. Universities, colleges, vocational institutes and schools may teach, adapt and use the content in their own courses and programmes, including courses that charge the institution’s regular tuition or study fees. This does not cover selling the content itself (for example as a printed book) or paid training for participants who are not the institution’s own students.
2. TESA Qualification Program partner. Infineon Technologies may use the content in activities related to the programme, including commercial ones such as customer training and product demonstrations.
3. Other commercial use, such as companies or training providers that charge for courses, or books and media that are sold, is possible under a written agreement with TESA. Contact contact@tesa.or.th.
4. Certificates are issued by TESA only. The content is open to learn from; examination, assessment and the TESA Qualification Program (TQP) certificates are run by TESA or those TESA appoints. See TRADEMARKS.md.

“Commercial” has the meaning it has in CC BY-NC 4.0: primarily intended for or directed towards commercial advantage or monetary compensation. If you are unsure whether your use qualifies, ask us before you use it.

The rules in plain words

1. Always credit, and use it non-commercially (or under the additional permissions above). Put the credit where learners and readers will actually see it.
2. No endorsement. CC BY-NC 4.0 §2(a)(6) does not let you claim or imply that the licensor endorses, sponsors or gives official status to your use. Using our material does not make your course “TESA-certified” or “TQP exam preparation”. Saying so needs TESA’s written permission.
3. Names and logos are marks, not open content. “TESA”, “TESA Qualification Program”, “TQP” and “Certified by TESA and Infineon” are not licensed under CC or Apache. You may write them in the credit; you may not use the logos or name your course or product with them. See TRADEMARKS.md.
4. Code has its own rules. Apache-2.0 code must carry our NOTICE file (§4(d)) and keep its headers. MIT code keeps its copyright line and permission notice.
5. skills/ is CC BY-SA 4.0. An adapted skill map must stay CC BY-SA 4.0 and credit both TESA and Meysam Parvizi. Lessons that only cite skill IDs are not affected.
6. Templates in resources/ are CC BY 4.0. The templates, checklists and worksheets in a lesson’s resources/ folder may be used in real work, commercial too, with credit.

Worked examples

1. Slides reused in a university course. Keep the short credit line in the footer of every slide that came from us (our decks already carry it as footer:), put the full wording on the title or last slide, and add “(adapted)” with a one-line summary if you changed anything.
2. Course syllabus (มคอ.3 / course specification). List the full wording under teaching resources or references, one entry per course or lesson used, including any upstream credit, and state that your course is not certified by TESA or Infineon unless you have a written agreement.
3. Printed handout. Print the short line in the footer of every page and the full wording with the full URL on the first or last page. Paper cannot be clicked, so always print the URL.
4. Code repository. Copy our NOTICE file into your repository (or merge its text into yours), keep the SPDX headers and copyright lines in every copied file, keep MIT notices intact, and put the full wording in your README under Credits or Acknowledgements.
5. Video. Show the full wording on screen at least once (start or end) long enough to read, and put it with the link in the video description of every episode.
